Review for Windswept Hearts

This is a romantic piece of down-home Americana! Robynn Gabel's descriptions of the `Country Life' are detailed and poinant. Having lived in both very Rural areas and again in heavily Urban areas, I can feel the angst and pull of the Heroine's heart towards the `Big City" while conversely loving the peace, and simple beauty of the a more sedate lifestyle in the country, as she finally makes her decision about the running of the ranch.

Rich in descriptive prose, she still manages to weave the relationships of the primary and secondary characters with a fine hand, where each character is fully fleshed out. Her writing pace is controlled, with enough ups and downs to keep the reader turning the pages, until every last page has been turned. The Hero is flawed, but not broken, making the characters as real as your next door neighbor.

You will find that your pace slows in reading as the more sedate atmosphere of the country life soothes you, so have a nice cup of tea, a cozy blanket and prepare to linger slowly over this breakthrough novel, Windswept Hearts.
